Burn Bright, Not Burn Out this Summer Solstice…

Pitta Season, The Summer Solstice & Returning to Radiance…

There is something magical about the Summer Solstice.

The days are long. The evenings stretch out before us. The gardens are abundant. The Earth feels alive.

For thousands of years, our ancestors honoured the Summer Solstice as a sacred turning point. A celebration of light, vitality and abundance. Bonfires were lit, herbs gathered and communities came together to honour the fullness of life.

And yet, hidden within this beautiful season is an important piece of wisdom.

Even the longest day does not last forever.

Following the Solstice, the light slowly begins its journey inward once again.

Nature reminds us of something we often forget.

Everything moves in cycles. Expansion is followed by rest. Action is followed by reflection. Growth is followed by integration.

This wisdom feels particularly important during early summer and Pitta season.

The Fire of Pitta…

In Ayurveda, summer is governed by Pitta Dosha.

Pitta is made up of the elements of fire and water.

It is the energy of transformation.

When balanced, Pitta gifts us:

Focus…Confidence…Courage…Motivation…Passion…Purpose

But when there is too much fire, the qualities that once served us can become our undoing.

Too much Pitta may show up as:

Irritability…Frustration…Acid reflux and digestive disturbances…Skin flare-ups…Feeling overwhelmed…Difficulty switching off…Impatience…Perfectionism…Hot flushes and feeling overheated…Emotional outbursts…Exhaustion

For many women, particularly during peri-menopause and menopause, this can feel like the perfect storm.

Because modern life often asks us to live in a constant state of output. To keep going. To keep achieving. To keep holding everything together.

Until one day, we simply cannot.

Burn Bright, Not Burn Out…

Burnout rarely arrives overnight. It whispers long before it shouts. It begins with feeling not quite yourself. A loss of joy.

Feeling disconnected. Everything becoming an effort. Questioning yourself. Feeling overwhelmed by simple tasks.

Wanting to withdraw. Ignoring your own needs.

The truth is, many women are not failing. They are simply depleted.

Their nervous systems have been running on high alert for too long.

Their inner fire has been burning without enough nourishment.

The Sacred Woman understands something deeply important.

She knows that she cannot pour endlessly from an empty vessel.

She honours her energy. She honours her seasons. She understands that tending to herself is not selfish. It is sacred.

Returning to Radiance…

The Summer Solstice offers us a beautiful opportunity.

Not to do more.

But to ask:

What is my relationship with light?

Am I shining brightly?

Or am I burning myself out?

Am I nourishing my fire?

Or am I consuming myself through endless striving?

Can I celebrate my life without exhausting myself in the process?

The Solstice invites us to become conscious custodians of our energy.

To honour our vitality as something precious.

To remember that we are nature.

And nature never blooms all year long.

A Summer Solstice Ritual…

Create yourself a little sacred space.

You may like:

A candle

Fresh flowers

A cup of ceremonial cacao or herbal tea

A journal

A blanket or shawl

Begin by sitting comfortably.

Close your eyes. Take three slow breaths.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.

Feel yourself arrive.

Bring to mind all that has bloomed in your life over the past six months.

Your lessons. Your challenges. Your growth. Your courage.

Offer gratitude.

Whisper softly:

"I honour the light within me.

I honour all that has grown.

I honour all that I have survived.

May I move forward with gentleness.

May I nourish my inner fire.

May I shine brightly without burning myself out.

May I remember that my energy is sacred."

Sit quietly for a few moments.

Allow yourself to receive.

Summer Solstice Journal Prompts…

Celebrating the Light…

What has bloomed in my life over the past six months?

What am I most proud of?

What strengths have I discovered within myself?

Tending My Fire

Where am I thriving?

Where am I pushing too hard?

What are my earliest signs of burnout?

What does my nervous system need from me right now?

Returning to Radiance

What truly nourishes me?

What brings me joy?

What would it look like to honour my energy this summer?

How can I shine brightly without burning myself out?

Setting an Intention…

What do I wish to cultivate during this next season?

What am I ready to release?

What quality would I like to embody moving forward?

Choose one word.

One feeling.

One guiding intention.

Perhaps:

Ease…Nourishment…Joy…Presence…Trust…Courage…Radiance…Simplicity

Write it somewhere visible. Return to it often. Allow it to become your companion through the weeks ahead.

A Closing Blessing…

As the sun reaches its fullest expression, may we remember that radiance does not come from constantly doing more.

The most radiant women are not necessarily the busiest. They are the women who have learned to honour their seasons.

Who know when to rest. Who nourish themselves deeply. Who protect their precious energy. Who understand that their light is sacred.

May this Summer Solstice be an invitation to celebrate your life, tend your inner fire with love and remember:

You were never meant to burn yourself out in order to shine.

“How are you caring for the precious life that has been entrusted to you?”

With all my love,

Andrea xx
