The Wild Woman & The Waning Moon ~ The Sacred Art of Letting Go…
There comes a moment in every cycle when nature begins to exhale. The fullness begins to soften. The energy that has been moving outward starts to turn inward. The light of the moon slowly diminishes in the night sky.
The days, though still bright, whisper an invitation to pause. This is the medicine of the Waning Moon.
A sacred phase often overlooked in a world that celebrates constant growth, productivity and achievement.
Yet the feminine has always understood that life does not move in straight lines.
It moves in cycles. Expansion and contraction. Action and rest. Creation and release.
The Waning Moon reminds us that letting go is just as important as moving forward.
And perhaps no archetype understands this more deeply than the Wild Woman.
The Wild Woman's Wisdom…
The Wild Woman is often misunderstood. Many imagine her as fierce, rebellious and untamed. And while she certainly carries those qualities, her deepest medicine is not found in rebellion. It is found in remembrance.
The Wild Woman remembers who she is. She is connected to her instincts. She trusts her body. She listens to her inner knowing. She honours her energy as something precious and sacred.
Unlike the modern world that encourages us to keep pushing, striving and accumulating, the Wild Woman understands that there are times when the most powerful thing we can do is release.
Release old stories. Release obligations. Release expectations. Release the roles we have outgrown. Release the need to be everything to everyone. She knows that what we cling to often becomes what weighs us down. And so she is willing to let go.
Not because she has failed. But because she has evolved.
The Waning Moon Invitation…
As the moon begins to decrease in light, we are invited into reflection. This is not the time to push harder. It is not the time to fill every empty space. It is not the time to force clarity or certainty. Instead, it is a time to ask:
What is complete?
What is no longer nourishing me?
What am I carrying that belongs to a previous version of myself?
Where am I leaking energy?
What am I ready to release?
The Waning Moon asks us to gather our energy back to ourselves.
To stop scattering it in a hundred different directions. To simplify. To return to what truly matters.
Reclaiming Your Energy…
Many women spend years giving their energy away.
Through people-pleasing. Through over-giving. Through trying to meet impossible expectations. Through carrying emotional responsibilities that were never theirs to hold.
Eventually, the body begins to whisper.
Fatigue. Overwhelm. Resentment. Disconnection.
The Wild Woman recognises these whispers.
And she responds. Not by doing more. But by listening. She steps away from the noise. She returns to nature. She creates space for stillness. She sits with a cup of cacao. She walks beneath the moon. She journals. She breathes. She remembers.
And little by little, she begins to call her energy home.
The Medicine of Release. Release is not loss. Release is making space. Every autumn tree knows this. Every river knows this.
Every moon cycle teaches this. Nature never clings. She trusts. The leaves fall. The tide recedes. The moon wanes.
And life continues.
Perhaps there is something in your own life that is ready to be released.
A habit. A belief. An obligation. A way of being that no longer fits.
The Waning Moon reminds us that we do not need to carry everything into the next cycle.
We are allowed to travel lighter.
A Simple Waning Moon Ritual…
Light a candle.
Make a cup of cacao or herbal tea.
Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Take a few slow breaths.
Ask yourself:
What am I complete with?
What am I ready to release?
What energy would I like to reclaim for myself?
Write freely. Without judgement. Without editing.
When you are finished, offer gratitude for all that this cycle has taught you.
Then allow yourself to let it go.
Trusting that the New Moon will bring fresh possibilities in its own perfect time.
Returning Home…
The Wild Woman does not seek perfection. She seeks truth. She understands that every cycle has its purpose.
That every ending creates the possibility of a beginning. That every release creates space for renewal.
As the moon wanes above us, may we honour the wisdom of slowing down.
May we listen more deeply. May we trust what is ready to leave. And may we have the courage to reclaim the energy, time and attention that belongs to us.
For within that sacred space, we remember. We remember who we are. We remember what matters.
We remember the Wild Woman within. And from that place, everything begins again.
With all my love,
